About

The pearl of the Mediterranean, unique in many ways, is situated in the south of the Adriatic. Nowhere else can you find, so much natural wealth, beauty, mild beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers, and gorgeous mountains in such a compact area as in Montenegro. In the morning you can wake up along the beautiful Adriatic coast, have lunch on the banks of Skadar Lake, and enjoy an evening walk in the Montenegrin mountains. Montenegro cannot leave you indifferent.

The oldest city in the Adriatic Sea (over 2000 years) Ulcinj is the southernmost city on the Montenegrin coast. The influence of the Orient and Western civilization has left a significant trace on this wonderful town.

Ulcinj is also known as the dangerous Pirate’s Nest (inhabited by pirates from Algeria, Tunisia and Malta) which are ravaging the middle of the seventeenth and early eighteenth century. Also, even today you can hear a story that the famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes was one of the imprisoned pirate captives and slaves in Ulcinj. Cervantes spent 5 years in Ulcinj, and on his return to Spain, he wrote his famous novel “Don Quixote”.
